Brief Overview of Research

We are interested in elucidating the basic biology of stem cells. The specific alterations that lead to the formation of cancer stem cells and differences in the biology of cancer stem cells and normal stem cell are the major focus. This may lead to development of new drugs, which could directly target cancer stem cells. We are also reevaluating stem cell associated genes as prognostic biomarker in oral carcinoma.

Existing Projects

‘Molecular dissection of TGFß-Smad signaling pathway in oral carcinoma’
Fast track grant for Young Scientists, DST, Govt. of India.
